Final date for an employer to pay PAYE tax and NI for the tax year ending 5 April 2004

For small companies this is the deadline by which any 2003-4 contract earnings caught by IR35 must be paid out in salary/bonuses and the relevant Income tax and National Insurance paid to the Contributions Agency.

The P35 is an End of Year return made by all UK companies.

The P14 is a return made in respect of each employee.

Companies must file a P11D in respect of each person employed for all, or part of, the 2003-04 tax year.

Due date for payment of PAYE tax and National Insurance for the month to 5 July 2003 and Class 1A National Insurance due in respect P11D benefits for the year 2003/04, (submitted to the Revenue on 6 July)

Self employed : 2nd instalment of tax for 2003/04

Also: second 5% penalty surcharge on any outstanding tax for the year ended 5 April 2003 that was due on 31 January 2004.

Deadline for 2004 tax return
Last day to submit Self Assessment Personal Tax Return for the year ended 5 April 2004 if you want the Inland Revenue to calculate your tax liability.

Any returns not filed by today must be:

Filed with a calculation of tax due (ie you need to work this out rather than giving the information to the Inland revenue and leaving the calculation to them)

Filed on or before 31 January 2005

Deadline for personal tax returns for the year to 5 April 2004

Last day to submit Self Assessment Personal Tax Return for the year ended 5 April 2004.

This is also the last day for those under self-assessment to their personal tax liability for the year ended 5 April 2004, together with first payment on account for the tax year ending 5 April 2005.
